Introducing the restaurant
L'Esperance is in the town of Hérouville Saint Clair, 2 kilometres from the port of Caen and 10 kilometres from Ouistreham, the port for car ferries to England. The L'Esperance restaurant was taken over by Pascal Angenard and his wife Claudine in March of 2009. It benefits from an exceptional view of the canal of Caen. The 1950s era building sits on the towpath where pedestrians, cyclists, and rowers all meet.
A pleasant and peaceful setting
Claudine and her team welcome you to L'Esperance from Tuesday to Sunday lunchtime (lunch is offered only on weekdays) for a gourmet break. Choose from a starter and a main, a main and a dessert, or a starter, a main and a dessert.
Every day of the week for lunch and dinner, discover our two seasonal menus. In addition, there is a blackboard for the chef's favourites from the daily market. Turbot, John Dory, sweetbreads, and veal enrich the range of dishes available for your family or work dinners, a night out with friends, or a private meal at the water's edge in a relaxing atmosphere.
His cuisine is gourmet, but within reach of everyone, as Pascal Angenard takes great care when choosing his produce. Fish, meats, foie gras and vegetables are chosen each day from local suppliers, which guarantees freshness and optimal quality as well as excellent value for money.
To complement your dishes, Claudine offers a range of red, white, and rosé wines including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côtes du Rhône, Provence and Val de Loire. Everyone can find the right wine to complement their dish, and enjoy the refinement of a perfect meal in which the wine and the food enhance one another.
Also, try the "wine tour."
Claudine regularly features a selection from each of the French producing regions with a winemaker, in order to introduce you to a wide variety of good wines. This selection can be served by the bottle or the glass for an affordable accompaniment to your lunch.
Not to mention the lovers of great wines who can request to see the list of exceptional "grands crus" from the private cellar of Pascal Angenard, such as: Cortoncharlemagne 2005, Vosne Romané 2004, Saint Emilion 2001, Pomerol 2000, Puligny montrachet 2000, Margaux 1999, Pauillac 1985, Pétrus 1986.
Every day of the week at lunch and dinner, discover our two menus.
